Pain track by track - part 2
04. Have A Drink On Me
I came up with the idea for the song when I was listening to eight of the songs I had already written for the album. And it felt like something was missing on the album, it sounded too montone for me. So I had to do something crazy! And I borrowed a `69 Fender guitar from a friend and went to the music store and bought a slide tube...I had never played with a slide in my whole life, but I had a vision of how I wanted it to sound. The lyrics are about my very talented lovelife that never seems to work.
05. Don’t Care
It`s about yuppies / rich snobs. The idea for the song grew out of the whole tempo of the album, I needed a faster song. I wrote it on the plane to Finland and there were some suit-and-tie-snobs travelling with us and giving us weird looks. It`s just a big "Fuck you!" to those who are filthy rich from us metal hippies.
06. Reach Out (And Regret)
It`s about my frustration to finally get things done – or to get this album done. I´m stressing because I know I have to make this in a certain release deadline and I`m running out of ideas. But it also symbolizes people that I tried to help (financial or drug problems and such) and then they turn around and stab you in the back afterwards.
07. Generation X
It´s about major labels don`t giving a shit about the fans or the music, just caring about quantities and trying to make money. They refuse to adapt to the future of music and the whole download and internet thing. The ridiculous CD prices will be their grave.
