What was you most memorable band moment?

Without any doubt the cruise 70.000 tons of metal. Hanging out with fans and other bands on a floating palace in the carribean cant go wrong.

What was the most memorable moment in your private life?

That is not such a great moment but its very memorable. My beloved mother passed away this year. I miss her much!

Which was the biggest party of the year?

A It has been some great ones. The whole 70.000 tons of metal of course.

The first night On our Anniversary tour in Buenos Aires we went out to Party.

Im not a heavy drinker at all, but this night was an exeption. I felt that I drunk to much and went back for the hotel. But instead I got lost in the worst part of Buenos Aires. Alone and blond with my passport and creditcard. But it was a lot of fun and I survived.

What shocked you or moved you in 2012?

A I have to be a party destroyer and say my mothers death.

What do you expect from 2013?

A LOT of work! The whole spring I will do the musical „Rock Of Ages“ in Stockholm together with Kee Marcelo and Joacim Cans. Then in the summer we might do some festivals with Therion. Then In the autumn and winter I wil continue with Rock Of Ages OR do a tour in Spain with a thing called Queen Symphonic Rhapsody.

For sure the moment we received the first contract from a label. It made us feel like we could do something good out of this project.

Maybe the first time I performed in pubblic with the guitar. I was 11 and I felt so nervous. It was at school and the adrenaline almost killed me. It is probably the moment I decided I wanted to do this in my life.

No idea..I don’t think we partied this year. And if we did, I can’t remember, because it was a good one. Haha!

Was hat dich 2012 am meisten bewegt oder schockiert?

Seeing the township of Cape Town in South Africa, the poor neightborhoods of the city. Seeing how people live there and how big it is and how many of them are there. Pretty shocking indeed.

Welche Erwartungen hast du von 2013?

Alot of work with the band. Hopefully I’ll be able to visit and tour new countries that I would love to see. Lack of sleep, stress, but great satisfaction.

I was happy that obama was re-elected. It felt like a big relief. I was shocked realizing I turned 28!

The latest show we played in Jyväskylä was special. The security guy unexpectedly tore down the barriers that divided the bar from the dancefloor during the second song of our set so people were able to take their beers to the front. I loved the atmosphere at that show.

When I saw the sonogram of my child.

There were a few great ones. But probably the sauna party at my place with the band mates after finishing the final mixing of our album. Also, my grandmother’s 100th birthday was pretty wild.

Was hat dich 2012 am meisten bewegt oder schockiert?

There was this new tv-series in Finland where 7 Finnish experienced musicians gather for a week to a mansion to hang out, play their own versions of each other’s songs and talk about music and life in general. I don’t understand why, but listening to these people, most of who I had thought were jerks, moved me to the extent that I wanted to go and hug them. I may have dropped a few tears, too.

This whole year has been crazy. We have released two albums, played shit loads of gigs and had one hell of a recording process with the last one. But for the band I think that the tour we are on now is one for the books. This is our first real big one and we’re winning people over to our side (the Norwegian dark side) every night. I love this situation where we are the underdogs and there are very few people that know anything about what we are about so we start out every night with clean sheets and just do our thing. And all the great people we have met! Metal heads are metal heads all over the world and we all can connect on the part of sharing what we love the most. It’s beautiful!

2012 has been a really good year for me and there have been many moments that should be mentioned but I think that the part where I actually have managed to survive only on my music and my art has been the most satisfying part.

Probably two days ago in Sevilla. We are currently on tour with Fear Factory and the Devin Townsend Project on the Epic Industrialist tour and we had a day off there. Epic amounts of beer, liquor, green plants and Spanish people that involved some heavy duty parquor on top of rooftops, diving in garbage bins and the worlds biggest beer and gin-tonic. It got ugly or really beautiful, it just depends on how you look at it.

Was hat dich 2012 am meisten bewegt oder schockiert?

When my son that is two and a half years old watched kung fu panda and learned the kung fu moves and added his own sound effects. That makes a guy proud! Everybody should know his kung fu. And immediately after I of course taught him the phrase: “With great power comes great responsibility!”

Welche Erwartungen hast du von 2013?

More shows, more dunder heads, more music and shit loads of fun. We are already booked for some really nice festivals and tours. And if I know Dunderbeist well enough we probably will release a new album come fall as well. We got tons of music waiting to be released upon the world. 2013 is gonna be goooood!

Was hat dich 2012 am meisten bewegt oder schockiert?

Die sich immer mehr ausdehnende krise weltweit. Es ist klar dass schuld an die krise alles zu tun hat mit das falsch spekulieren von banken, renteversicherungen, und dann naturlich die scheiss broker und aktien besitzer/anleger oder wie die in Deutsch auch heissen. Es wird mal zeit dass man das als staaten an baende liegt. Die finanzkommerzen bauen riesigen weltweiten mist und die buerger und schuftende leute koennen dafuer natuerlich wie immer bezahlen. Es ist eine mega-stinkende schweinerei.

Welche Erwartungen hast du von 2013?

Fuer mich persoenlich ein tolles jahr mit viele shows und eine fette dritte Hail of Bullets scheibe. Was die welt angeht bin ich nicht so positiv. Fuer alle die, die schon wenig haben tun mir richtig leid.

Negative: Being stuck at the Serbian border for 10 hours without the possibility to enter the country.

Positive: Our last show on the 2012 tour, in Eindhoven. My pants torn in the second song, so I just did the same voluntarily to the rest of my clothes to pretend I was ripping up my clothes on purpose. It was a great show!

What was your most memorable moment in your private life?

Well, that’s private, haha! 

Which was the biggest party of the year?

Those who know me know that I almost didn’t go to a single party in my mature life, so this is a very hard question for me to answer! Well, I can say that the 2012 tour was the closest thing I got to a party this year, even though I did not participate in the partying myself.

What moved or shocked you the most in 2012?

Seeing the trial of Anders Behring Breivik on national television was really tough, and many times I had to struggle to hold back my tears and to calm my anger. So many sad stories and bitter fates of very young innocent people.

What do you expect from 2013?

I think 2013 will be the most active year from Leprous ever! We will release our new album, already booked 10 festivals, lots of touring and the list goes on. It’s a year I’m really looking forward to begin!

The births of my 3 children, my wedding day and the day I bought my Hammond C3 & leslie 145. In that order. Probably.

Which was the biggest party of the year?

This year? I don’t get out much…but it was probably at a bar in Chicago after I played for the Black Sabbath guys at Lollapalooza in the summer.

What moved or shocked you the most in 2012?

Tony Iommi’s cancer came as a shock. You never think your friends and idols can ever become ill.

What do you expect from 2013?

I try not to expect anything ever. If you don’t expect anything, then you are never disappointed. That works for all aspects of my life.

Dieses Jahr hat mich nichts wirklich angesprochen, das ich als Lieblingsalbum bezeichnen würde.

Das war das diesjährige Konzert im Rahmen des Metalfests auf der Loreley. Das ist quasi direkt vor meiner Haustür und dort wollte ich schon immer mal spielen.

Das Tourende im Juli. So schön eine Tour auch ist, es ist ebenso schön, wieder heimzukommen und mehr Zeit für die Familie zu haben.

Wir hatten im Sommer endlich unser langersehntes bandinternes Fußballspiel, bei dem sich neben der kompletten Band auch fast die gesamte Crew beteiligt hat! Eine Riesensausse!

On our first tour, we visited an amazing beach in San Diego and we pretty much haven’t stopped thinking about it since.

We had an amazing time at Euroblast 8 this year.  Hanging out with so many likeminded people and amazing musicians was incredible.

What moved or shocked you the most in 2012?

We were pretty shocked when we found out that Randy Blythe was being held for manslaughter in the Czech Republic. 

What do you expect from 2013?

We expect to get out and tour as much as possible!

Welcher war der denkwürdigste Band-Moment des Jahres?

Auf unserer Japan Tour im April diesen Jahres hat der Korea Promoter H.J. einfach die Show 5 Tage vor dem Konzert gecancelt und uns sitzen lassen (auf allen Kosten, Hotels und Weiter-Flüge). Daraufhin habe ich mit dem Japan Promoter innerhalb von 24 Std. 2 weitere Shows in Tokyo gebucht für das kommende Wochenende (wir hatten also nur 3 Tage für Promotion und Ticketverkauf), die wir beide in 2 Tagen komplett ausverkauft haben. Daraufhin haben wir beschlossen eine Signing Session mit allen Fans nach der Show zu machen um gebührend ‘Danke’ zu sagen. Es waren jeweils 4 Std. die wir dort nach der Show verbracht haben – anstrengend, aber mit die besten Stunden meines Lebens. Was wir dort an Herzlichkeit und Emotionen erlebt haben, werde ich niemals vergessen. Es war ein tolles Gefühl eine sehr besch..eidene Situation in Triumph umzuwandeln. Wir haben uns nicht unterkriegen lassen sondern gemeinsam mit unseren Fans daraus das Beste gemacht, was uns passieren konnte. Und jetzt erscheint zu dieser Show noch ein ‘offizielles Bootleg’ Ende Dezember, es ist eine Live DVD mit dem Titel ‘ Astro Khaos 2012’ (Astro Hall war die Venue fuer beide Shows, und ‚Khaos’ beschreibt die Situation perfekt, haha). Wir haben diesen Moment also für alle Zeiten festgehalten und ich werde mich immer gerne zurückerinnern.

Mein Umzug von Schweden zurück nach Köln. Heimat, du hast mich wieder!!!

Welche war die Party des Jahres?

Mir haben die Metal Hammer Awards super viel Spaß gemacht. Hab mich sehr gefreut alte Freunde wieder zu sehen, die Stimmung war gut und Berlin ist eine tolle Stadt. War def für mich die Party des Jahres!

Was hat dich 2012 am meisten bewegt oder schockiert?

Soll nicht am 21. Dezember die Welt untergehen? Laut Maya-Kalender auf jeden Fall. Damit wär dass def. das bewegendste Erlebnis für mich in 2012 😉

Schockieren finde ich die Nachrichten eigentlich täglich Bewegend sind die Schicksale vieler Menschen die Ihr Leben für den Kampf um Freiheit und Gerechtigkeit geben müssen. Die Bilder aus Syrien, Libyen, Afrika.. unvorstellbares Leid.

Welche Erwartungen hast du von 2013?

Keine Großen Erwartungen, aber Hoffnungen (denn die stirbt ja bekanntlich zuletzt). Go with the flow. Wir werden an unserer monumentalen Live DVD/BlueRay basteln, diese nach dem Sommer 2013 veröffentlichen und natürlich ein neues Arch Enemy Album schreiben. Ansonsten bin ich neugierig auf diese Welt und werde mich ein bisschen meiner emotionalen und spirituellen Weiterentwicklung widmen – mir ist einfach so danach. Da wir sehr wenige Shows in 2013 spielen werden und es auch nicht viel zu ‚managen’ gibt, habe ich endlich mal die Zeit dazu und vor allem den Kopf frei.  Ich hoffe das wir als Gesellschaft Fortschritt in Richtung sozialeren und friedlicheren Umgang miteinander, unserer Umwelt und den Tieren machen und wir gemeinsam auf die Straßen gehen, wenn unsere Regierungen weiterhin so viel Mist verzapfen. Mund auf, Zähn auseinander! Let the revolution begin! Ich bin dabei J

Das sind neben unserem eigenen SATURNIAN „Dimensions“, die LED ZEPPELIN-DVD, BORKNAGAR „Urd“ und WANDAR „Landlose Ufer“.

Welcher war der denkwürdigste Band-Moment des Jahres?

Für mich gab es viele sehr denkwürdige Momente. Neben der Aufnahme und Veröffentlichung von „Wetterkreuz“ sind das unsere erste Probe mit neuem Line Up, unser erstes Konzert in dieser Besetzung und auch solche einfach schönen Kleinigkeiten wie der Einstieg in die Newcomercharts und sehr sehr viele positive Reaktionen auf das, was wir in diesem Jahr geleistet haben. Für EIS ist 2012 ein fantastisches Jahr gewesen.

Welcher war der denkwürdigste private Moment des Jahres?

EIS und ich als Privatperson lassen sich schwer trennen. Alles, was mit der Band in Verbindung steht, ist ganz eng mit mir verknüpft. „Wetterkreuz“ geschrieben und veröffentlicht zu haben, dazu als das erste EIS-Album, auf dem ich singe, ist für mich eine sehr wichtige und heilsame Erfahrung gewesen.

Welche war die Party des Jahres?

Ganz sicher die, auf der ich nicht war. 😉 Genau genommen war ich auf keiner einzigen.

Was hat dich 2012 am meisten bewegt oder schockiert?

Ganz der Black Metal-Gutmensch, der ich bin, schockieren mich beispielsweise Dinge, die ich tagtäglich in meinem Beruf sehe. Da muss man sich ernsthaft Gedanken um die Zukunft der Gesellschaft machen, wenn massenweise Kinder verwahrlosen, geschlagen werden oder schon vor ihrem zehnten Geburtstag in Depressionen versinken. Sowas unmittelbar zu erleben, berührt mich jedenfalls mehr als die Wahlen in den USA oder der Tod von Larry Hagman.

Welche Erwartungen hast du von 2013?

Wie von jedem Jahr wünsche ich mir, dass es auch 2013 voran geht, dass sich die richtigen Dinge wiederholen, Fehler aber nicht. Für EIS wünsche ich mir, dass wir es schaffen, endlich eine Tour und einige größere Festivals zu spielen. Und wenn 2013 uns einen großen Gefallen tun will, sind wir Ende des Jahres mal wieder zu Gast im Studio E.

Der Aufstieg mit der Frankfurter Eintracht zurück in die Bundesliga! Und nächstes Jahr wird Europa aufgemischt!

Die Aftershow-Party in der Metalkneipe “Speak Easy” nach unserem Jubiläumsgig zum 30. Geburtstag von Tankard in der Frankfurter Batschkapp. Ich kann mich sogar noch bruchstückhaft erinnern………

When we played on the actual battlefield that we sing about in the song 40:1. Wizna in Poland. 10000 fans came there and the night was magic.

I do not have a private life, but I guess it would be the day I started Sabaton.

Welche war die Party des Jahres?

Its still to come. It will be our tourending in Karlstad together with our great friends in Raubtier and Pain.

Was hat dich 2012 am meisten bewegt oder schockiert?

The fact that 4 bandmembers of our band decided to jump the ship. It turned out to be great in the end though but it was of course a bit of a shock.

Welche Erwartungen hast du von 2013?

That we will continue to tour, break new ground and find new fans.

There were a lot of great moments this year having recorded and released our new album as well as some great tours and festivals. I guess right now, we’re on tour with Lamb of God in America which is a huge deal for us so it probably takes first place

Welcher war der denkwürdigste private Moment des Jahres?

Probably my sister’s wedding in Lake Como, Italy this September. It was a great wedding and was also a nice little vacation for me and my girlfriend.

Welche war die Party des Jahres?

Well, it definitely wasn’t a ‚big‘ party….or even a party as such. But last night, Hellyeah joined the Lamb of God tour and we were doing shots with Vinnie Paul on his bus. That was so surreal. We’re all enormous Pantera fans and were just like giddy school girls.

Was hat dich 2012 am meisten bewegt oder schockiert?

Unfortunately there have been a number of tragic things this year. We had toured with Suicide Silence a few times so obviously Mitch passing away was a really nasty shock. Aside from that the Baroness bus crash was quite shocking and at the same time the fact they seem to be in such good spirits and are pushing forward is very uplifting.

Welche Erwartungen hast du von 2013?

As much touring as possible! We’re making sure we’re available to cover as much ground as possible. That and making sure we keep writing new music to stay on our toes

Probably playing Loud Park in Japan. It was a Super Arena filled with punctual Japanese Metalheads. Pretty hard to forget.

Winning the best impersonation of Scotty from Star Trek at a Star Trek Convention when I was 7 years old. Life’s been pretty much downhill after that.

Welche war die Party des Jahres?

I really don’t like to blow my load all in one night. I rage all year at small groups of people. More of a grass roots campaign of party.

Was hat dich 2012 am meisten bewegt oder schockiert?

What shocked me and almost moved me to tears was the closing of Hostess. And right before the end of the world too. I knew I should’ve stocked up on Twinkies years ago.

Welche Erwartungen hast du von 2013?

I expect to see more progress being made on the Hoverboards seen in Back to the Future 2. And that our album Ride the Void will bring about world peace like the Wyld Stallyans did in Bill and Ted’s. And I expect that to be a lot of hard work and travel for which we are ready for.

Summerbreeze festival 2011. We pretty much headlined that shit. 30,000+ watching our show. Damn that was awesome. Also Devilside Festival 2010 in Germany when I was plucking up the courage to go talk to Fear Factory singer Burton, and he comes up to me first and says “Aren’t you the singer of Sonic Syndicate. Can’t wait to see you show”.

Welcher war der denkwürdigste private Moment des Jahres?

I used to own a house with Arceye singer Al Llewellyn. We devised the great plan of spending less money in the pub by drinking full pint glasses of 8 year old scotch before we left. Ended up spending more money. Any given night had a crazy story back in those days! He threw his shoe at me one night so I put in a the lav, then uprooted it and threw it back at him. Smashed into a million pieces obviously. Landlord made us spend rest of the night cleaning it up.

Welche war die Party des Jahres?

The 69 Eyes album release party in a Casino in Helsinki was pretty fun. Gambling, strippers, red wine and jager is a lethal combination.

So far its gotta be Mitch’s death from Suicide Silence. Awesome force that band and he was a badass. Rest in peace, bro.

Welche Erwartungen hast du von 2013?

Better music. 2012 had some high points but I think generally we can do better. So to all you kids in bands out there get in your bedrooms, basements or whatever and start coming up with something that pushes the evelope.
